I’ve struggled to find a title for this post; something not too alarming, but still evocative of the times we’re living. Well, one word imposed itself to me…
The French government are thinking of handing over survival leaflets to all French households this summer, for protection against natural disasters or war. Everywhere you look in the world there are armed conflicts, nowhere spared.
I wrote a post 3 years ago (!) on Shielding Our Inner Peace, I’ve just read it again to see what strategies I was suggesting navigating anxiogenic times; we were for most of us coming out of the covid lockdowns, utterly shaken, scathed, bereaved. The Ukraine – Russia conflict was making its headline debut, so we braced ourselves for another merry-go-round. However, who in 2022 thought we would be discussing war economy or survival manuals in 2025 in Western Europe? Certainly not me.
Besides armed conflicts, there are the war waged against our purses, the war waged against our attention span, the war waged against our precious time, the war waged against our personal data, the war waged against Intellect, the war waged against morals, the war waged against our critical thinking, the war waged against our creativity, the war waged against the future of our children, the war waged against our air, the war waged against our waters, the war waged against our privacy, the war waged against our sanity, the war waged against hope, the war waged against silence, and so on, and so on, and so on…
What to do? How to feel? Who to turn to?
Let’s control what we can (RESIST WHEREVER YOU CAN!), and as for the rest, let’s hope for the best (buckle up).
Matthew 24:6-8
“You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren’t troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places. But all these things are the beginning of birth pains.”
John 16:33
“I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have oppression; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.”
Keep the Son in your eyes, sis! God is ever near
